Jamie's Father, Rick, was one of the finest Sprintcar drivers in South Australia during the 1970s and 80s and it was inevitable that Jamie Cobby would be drawn into the sport at some stage. At the age of 16 Jamie started racing his dads Sprintcar winning 3 A Mains in a row. Jamie's first experience of driving for a team was when he drove for car owner Mathew Hoare. With some good experience under his belt Jamie headed overseas to chase his dream of racing full-time in America. For the next seven years in the 1990s Jamie Cobby packed his bags for the US during the Australian winter. Basing himself in California, Jamie set out to race against the ‘best in the business'. Jamie joined some of the top US teams including the World of Outlaws Team “Kepler Motorsports”, owned by Les Keppler. Jamie also worked for Gary Stanton and Jeff Swindell. Other legendary drivers which Jamie had the pleasure to learn from where Brad Doty, Jac Haudenschild and Doug Wolfgang. Between 1990, 91, 92 93, 96, & 97 Jamie raced in California for Flori Filipich, Ted and Rose Finkenbinder, Duke Mcmillen, Chuck Prather, Kelly Kahne, Greg Decairies, Duwayne Starr, Bob Consani, James Riolo, Dale Orth, all with great success. Jamie still stays in touch with many of these living legends. During his time in America Cobby won 53 main events and was ranked number one in California 360 cubic inch Sprintcars. In Australia, Jamie raced for car owners Mad Harry Delamont whilst living with the Brazier family in Sydney and learning from the legendary Steve Brazier. Other car owners include: Dave Ferrall,Brett Lacey, Paul Jordan, Dave Magilton, Alan and Sally Barlee, Daryl Wright, Robin Dawkins, Daryl Downing and Anthony Johns, resulting in five main events in Australia while running on a limited schedule during the Australian summer. In 2002 Jamie married Louise. In 2003 Daughter Mackenzie was born. Jamie resumed racing in 2005 with the Ray Bartlett team. Five races later Jamie had won the Australian 360 cubic inch Championship. Jamie kept on winning, with another 11 A main victories. Jamie's combined wins with Australian Car owners numbers 16. Jamie also manages his own business. In that inaugural year Jamie Cobby won nine main events from 17 starts in the 360 cubic inch competition. Over the past two years Jamie Cobby has endured some up and down results with several victories but he has also had some taken away from him due to minor mechanical issues, including three Australian Sprintcar Titles in a row, whilst running second in 2007 and leading in 2008, was plagued by ignition failures in both. 2008/09 Jamie finished 4th in the Speedway City track championship 3rd in Murray Bridge track championship and 2nd in the South Australian Title..
